Welcome to Takysie Lake Resort – "Lake of Many Fishes"
Join Us at Takysie Lake Resort just south of Burns Lake
The name ‘Takysie’ means ‘lake of many fishes.’ The abundance of rainbow trout in Takysie Lake will excite everyone – even the non-fisherman. Watch as each day the fish rise and leap from the water for their daily meal. Takysie Lake supports an excellent population of wild BC rainbow trout up to 2+ lbs. The lake is ideal for fly fishing and conventional trolling methods using spinning gear, flatfish, and small spoons. Or just walk out to the boats after a good rain – there may just be one swimming around inside looking for a way out!
A Calm & Relaxing Getaway
This is where you want to relax…listen to the call of the loons and watch the ospreys soar overhead. Tour the lake in one of our aluminum boats to view an eagle’s nest or catch your own next meal. We have it all - full suites, lakeside cabins, full lodges, RV/Tentsites , sani dump station, guest docks, boat launch, as well as docking for floatplanes. Meet Our Owners
Owners David Gruen and Rise’ Johansen welcome you to their slice of Takysie Lake paradise. David has lived in this country his entire life and is an avid hunter and fisherman. He serves on the board of the local Sportsman’s Association and has a great appreciation for recreation and conservation. He is more than willing to give a tip on what lure you should try or where to go on the lake to catch the best. He also knows the regulations very well, so if you have questions understanding them, he is sure to assist you. He is hands-on and helpful and will ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable.
Rise’ has lived here almost 3 decades now and she and David have been married most of that time. She spends most of her time in her office and her restaurant kitchen overseeing food production and inventory ordering. When she does take a break, you might run into her at a beach in Mexico. Rise’ comes from a long line of cat lovers which you can see by the cat displays she keeps in the restaurant all summer. There is such a large collection now, she can’t display all of them at once anymore. Both David and Rise’ love their lifestyle here and welcome you to enjoy it as well. They work here and live here so feel free to ask to speak to them at any time.
We have staff members who come and go, but there are a few we consider family members. We hope you’ll feel the same way about them too!
