Welcome to Takysie Lake Resort
The name ‘Takysie’ means ‘lake of many fishes.’ The abundance of rainbow trout in Takysie Lake will excite everyone – even the non-fisherman. Watch as each day the fish rise and leap from the water for their daily meal. Takysie Lake supports an excellent population of wild BC rainbow trout up to 2+ lbs. The lake is ideal for fly fishing and conventional trolling methods using spinning gear, flatfish, and small spoons. Or just walk out to the boats after a good rain – there may just be one swimming around inside looking for a way out!
A Calm & Relaxing Getaway
This is where you want to relax…listen to the call of the loons and watch the ospreys soar overhead. Tour the lake in one of our aluminum boats to view an eagle’s nest or catch your own next meal. Our lakeside resort is secluded with a peaceful tranquility that’s difficult to find. We have it all - rustic lakeside cabins, RV/Tentsites , a sani dump station, guest docks, a boat launch, as well as docking for floatplanes. You can also find a restaurant and store on-site where you can enjoy delicious home-cooked meals and stock up on supplies.
A Local Legend turns Family Affair
Kimberley and her sister Danielle grew up in Smithers, BC, and family trips to Takysie Lake were a favourite tradition. One of Danielle’s fondest memories is falling asleep in the top bunk of Cabin 2. The oldies request show played on the radio while her parents played cards at the table. All these years later, she can still picture it.
Years later, a conversation with a childhood friend brought those memories back. Danielle looked up Takysie Lake Resort and discovered it was for sale. She kept an eye on the listing for four years. Then, while visiting Smithers with her mom and stepdad in the summer of 2024, the three decided on the spur of the moment to drive out and see the resort in person. That day trip turned into a new chapter for the whole family.
Today, several generations help run Takysie Lake Resort, from Chef Kim and her sister Danielle to Danielle’s husband Stephen, the sisters’ mom Terry, and young Decimus, who’s already a keen fisherman. The family is proud to care for a place that holds so many memories for them, welcome guests making memories of their own, and serve the Southside community.
For the family, coming back to Takysie Lake feels like coming home.

Due to the nature of our business and the high demand for our accommodations, all bookings must be completed with full payment through our online reservation system. This policy ensures fairness and secures reservations on a first-confirmed basis.
We currently have multiple contractors and guests actively seeking the same units. As such, we are unable to hold or reserve accommodations without confirmed full payment.

This policy is in place following prior instances where third-party bookings were cancelled on the day of arrival, resulting in lost occupancy. To maintain operational stability, we now operate exclusively on a secure “book now, pay now” system.
